Cairns FNQ winter wonder
Thanks Craig and Craig for sending in these nice shots of themselves kiteboarding at Yorkeys beach just north of Cairns. While their southern counterparts braved cold water and offshore winds these guys enjoyed the tropical tradewinds in their boardies. If you have not already experienced the far north then make sure you do it next winter, we will be there again for sure. No need to convert Traqua, whose founders Mat and Rebecca Colefax hail from FNQ and have spent many a warm winters day kitesurfing all over the lush coastline up there. Rainforest, reef, lots to do and see. It really is a paradise and especially compared to the brutal winter we just had down south this year. 2007 brought the coldest winter in 100 years to SE QLD, regular frost, and very irregular kiting weather. But of course we still got out there every chance we could, when we were not up north anyway haha.
Mat and Beck send a big hello out to all the FNQ crew, we look forward to seeing you guys every winter, and spending quality time on and off the water. Traqua is going to have more information for travellers to FNQ, so keep coming back for updates. And enjoy the spring Northerlies.
